CMS is managed on a regional basis by an experience and knowledgeable team of crop monitoring co-ordinators who oversee the crop monitoring programmes being conducted by a 50-strong team of trained scouts.

National CMS manager: Linda Haughey
Based in Hastings, Linda Haughey has a long association with integrated fruit and vegetable production management theory and practice. It was the focus of her five-year agricultural degree, a Bachelor of Agriculture and Environmental Science (Hons) at Dublin University. With work experience in Europe prior to moving to New Zealand, Linda developed a successful career in this field. Since joining Fruitfed Supplies in 1998, Linda has developed the company’s crop monitoring services to suit a wide variety of crop types and regions, and she now leads a strong team of regional crop monitoring co-ordinators.

CMS area manager - northern/central: Denise Chamberlain
Denise Chamberlain joined Fruitfed Supplies in 1998 and is based in Hawke’s Bay at the Hastings Fruitfed Supplies branch. From Hawke’s Bay, she oversees the CMS coordinators and their crop monitoring services throughout the northern and central districts. Key crops in these areas include vegetables, citrus, avocados and grapes.

Denise has a strong background in horticultural consultancy and field services and holds a Bachelor of Horticultural Technology (Hons).

Northland & Whangarei crop monitoring co-ordinator: Sue O’Malley
Based at PGG Wrightson Whangarei, Sue O’Malley is responsible for co-ordinating and developing Fruitfed Supplies’ crop monitoring services for avocados and citrus in the Northland region.

Sue has been with the company since August 2004 and holds a diploma in horticulture. She has extensive experience in the horticulture field over a 20-year career, including seven years managing a vineyard on Waiheke Island implementing IPM programmes.

Gisbourne crop monitoring supervisor: Tanya Hawthorne
Based at Fruitfed Supplies in Gisborne, Tanya is responsible for supervising Fruitfed Supplies' crop monitoring services for citrus and grapes. Tanya has been with Fruitfed in a crop monitoring scout role for the last five years and has recently taken on more responsibility in her supervisory role

Bay of Plenty crop monitoring co-ordinator: Alastair Reed
Based at the Katikati Fruitfed Supplies branch, Alastair Reed oversees the development and management of avocado and citrus monitoring throughout the Bay of Plenty, with his area of responsibility encompassing Coromandel in the north to Opotiki in the south-west.

Alastair moved from Zimbabwe to New Zealand with his family in 2004. He has an extensive background in horticulture, having grown roses, tobacco, paprika, potatoes, curcurbits and citrus.

Hastings crop monitoring co-ordinator: James Bowden
James (Jimmy) Bowden joined Fruitfed Supplies in 1996, developing a particular specialty in pipfruit and stonefruit crop monitoring within the Hawke’s Bay area.

Jimmy holds a National Certificate in Horticulture and, having previously managed a 12ha pipfruit orchard, he also has good practical skills and is ideally suited to assisting growers with current IFP strategies.

Manawatu crop monitoring co-ordinator: Martin Higham
Martin Higham joined Fruitfed Supplies in 2005 and is based in Palmerston North at the branch he also manages on a day-to-day basis. 

Martin is responsible for supervising Fruitfed Supplies’ crop monitoring services throughout the Manawatu, and as far south as Horowhenua across to the Wairarapa and as far north as Ohakune. Martin’s primary focus is pipfruit and vegetable monitoring.

South Island crop monitoring co-ordinator: Paul Hassan
Paul Hassan holds a unique position in the company as both the Technical Advisor and CMS co-ordinator for the South Island. Based in Richmond (Nelson), Paul oversees the crop monitoring programmes for a number of key crops, particularly grapes.
