Cocopeat plantWhat is coir fibre pith (dust)?
Cocopeat, also known as ‘coir fibre pith’ or ‘coir dust’ is a natural and renewable resource produced from coconut husks by the coconut industries in Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia. A bi-product of coconut husks processed for the extraction of the long fibres, cocopeat is the binding material that comes from the fibre fraction of the coconut husk. The coir dust is washed, heat treated, screened and graded before being processed into various cocopeat products for horticultural and agricultural applications.

Cocopeat is a multi-purpose soil conditioner and growing medium, consistent and uniform in texture. It is a completely homogenous material composed of millions of capillary micro-sponges that absorb and hold up to eight times its own weight in water. The natural pH of 5.7 to 6.5, plus an unusually high cation exchange capacity (CEC) and 27% easily available water, assures that coir will hold and release nutrients in solution over extended periods without re-watering.

Why Galuku cocopeat?
The cocopeat products supplied and distributed worldwide by Galuku Pty Ltd are guaranteed to be very high quality. Manufactured to comply with the strictest quarantine rules of the Australian Quarantine Inspection Services, Galuku cocopeat products have been researched, developed and used in the Australian horticulture industry for over ten years.

Galuku Cocopeat products are graded to specific particle sizes and fibre content. These gradings provide a more accurate growing media exactly tailored to each growing application. Particle size grading now allows for a wider spectrum range of water holding capacity, air filled porosity and bulk density to suit seasonal climate conditions and specific crop production.

More details are available from your local Fruitfed Supplies representative or from www.cocopeat.com.au. Please note that not all Galuku cocopeat product lines and sizes are carried in stock.
