Testing new products in New Zealand conditions for New Zealand growers
Hundreds of products have been field-tested and researched by the Fruitfed Supplies Technical Team over the years they’ve been in operation.
Naturally, confidentiality is a critical component of any commercial research trial, so while we’re proud of the work done by our Technical Team and the esteem in which the team is held by agri-chemical suppliers, we can’t say too much!
A case Study: Regalis
Paul Hassan shares some comments from the research project for the unique plant growth regulator, Regalis® from BASF.
- Regalis is a plant growth regulator which acts by inhibiting shoot growth in treated trees.
- Replicated field trials were conducted in Nelson and Marlborough in 2000/01, 2002/03, 2003/04 and 2006/07.
- Crops tested: apples and cherries (various cultivars and rootstock combinations).
- Studied: Influence of various Regalis application regimes on inhibition of shoot growth, fruit finish and fruit set.
- Data generated from these trials were used to support New Zealand registration submissions, as well as train Fruitfed staff and clients in best practice with the product.
